Lorem Ipsum Generator

Lorem Ipsum is scrambled, Latin-like filler text designers and developers drop into a layout when the real copy doesn't exist yet. The point is that it looks like language — realistic word lengths and sentence rhythm — without meaning anything, so nobody reads it and starts editing the words instead of judging the design. Reach for it whenever you need body text to see how a card, article, or button behaves before the content is written.

Choose words, sentences, or paragraphs

Pick the unit that matches the space you're filling, then set a count from 1 to 100:

• Paragraphs — each is a realistic block of 3 to 6 sentences, ideal for mocking up articles, blog posts, and card bodies.
• Sentences — a run of standalone sentences for captions, list items, and short blurbs where a full paragraph is too much.
• Words — an exact word count for tight spots like buttons, labels, nav items, and headlines, where you're testing whether text overflows.

Every time you press Generate, you get a fresh random draw — so if a particular block happens to break your layout awkwardly, just generate again for a different length distribution.

The two options

• Start with "Lorem ipsum…" begins the output with the canonical opener everyone recognizes as placeholder text. Turn it off and you get an arbitrary starting point, which is handy when you need several distinct-looking blocks that don't all begin the same way.
• Wrap in <p> tags emits ready-to-paste HTML, one <p>…</p> per paragraph. With it off, paragraphs are separated by a blank line — the right choice for pasting into a design tool, a Markdown file, or a plain text field. With it on, the output drops straight into an HTML template.

Why placeholder text matters for design

Filling a layout with real, meaningful copy too early is a trap: people start reading, react to the content, and stop evaluating the design. Neutral filler keeps the focus on spacing, line length, and hierarchy. It also stress-tests your layout — a paragraph that's genuinely too long reveals whether your container scrolls, clips, or gracefully wraps, which a one-line "TODO" placeholder never would. That's why generating by an exact word count is useful: you can reproduce the worst-case and best-case text length on purpose.

One caveat

Because Lorem Ipsum has no real meaning, never ship it. It's easy to forget a block of filler in a footer or a rarely-seen page and push it to production — a common, embarrassing bug. Do a final search for "lorem" across your project before launch. And for accessibility or SEO review, remember that filler tells you nothing about how real headings and links will read; swap in true content before that stage.
